So the new year brought me new granite counter tops and just like that the design rut is over! I work for the firm that owns my apartment and I requested to have new counter tops installed solely off the premise that I needed more space (I was working with about 3′ of usable surface) and not only did I get a yes but they approved granite and turned my half-wall into an island. Score for me!
Having the new upgraded counter tops have completely changed the look of my kitchen and motivated me to really finish the apartment. I renewed the lease so I’ve decided to design the space specifically to my taste. The granite is black with flecks of gold and silver and the back-splash and floor tiling is an earth-tone. The cabinetry is chestnut color with chrome hardware and all the appliances are black. Its sounds like a lot but the black counter tops have really pulled it all together and made it all work.
There is one blank wall in my kitchen that holds my table and chairs and it calls for something special. Ever since I saw the picture below I knew this was the wall treatment I wanted to do. Simple and elegant. Then I saw this DIY and decided to do the treatment with fabric because its so much easier.
So now I’m at the point that I need to choose the fabric and I’m really stuck. At first I saw this picture and I thought this was the aesthetic I wanted.
I thought I was going to use the spotted wallpaper and paint the trim gold but when I started looking for the wallpaper I began to see other options and now I really don’t know what I want. I’m going to order samples and narrow it down in the next two weeks because install day is on the 21st (I get my family to come over and help me do stuff that I’m too lazy to do on my own).
These are the ones I’m contemplating, help me choose!
I do have 3 prints in mind that I am pretty sure will make the cut but you have to stay tuned to see which one I pick 😉
