So I know in the blogosphere this post is late (slightly rolls eyes) but I personally shop in the season. I do this for a couple reasons, mainly because the longer you wait the more likely the items in your cart will go on sale or a discount code will pop up. Now I know this risk items selling out, but this is not so much about items that you need, those you should just buy. This is more so about trendy & fashionable items you want to experiment with and mix in with your current wardrobe.
I love looking to my favorite bloggers for styling inspiration, especially when it’s a change of season. There are a lot of trends resurfacing this spring and choosing which ones to try can be overwhelming. These are a few of my favorites (that’s me in the polka dots) and as always links to purchase are below.
Polka Dots are definitely not new to the fashion scene but they are making a huge comeback this season for spring and summer. It’s a timeless print that’s being updated with new designs and use of fabrics. I think a huge factor in keeping this print trendy is paying attention to how its styled. In this look I styled this fairly simple dress with sock boots and a handbag that would stand out due to its shape and color.
The Short Suit is a flashback to the 80’s but imagine its chicer sister has come back to take its place. This years short suit is sophisticated & being offered in every fabric, color and price range you can imagine. I love the one featured here because its in a pinstripe print with a double breasted blazer (also on trend) and the shorts are a relaxed fit and length. It’s on trend but both pieces are classic enough to wear as separates long after the trends fades.
Pastels are the colors of this season. Lilacs, mints, soft pinks and baby blues are the colors that you will see at your favorite retailers for the next few months. Love this trend? Style your look in the same pastel hue from head to toe shown here. While it seems like a bold move, it’s actually a way to keep the look streamlined and chic.
The Culottes pant started to resurface a couple years ago but this seasons necessity is a jean or linen version in white. I love the way its styled here because its still a flattering shape. The high waist and ankle length is key in keeping this from making your figure boxy. The crop top and nude mules was the perfect addition to the look.
Nineties fashion is so nostalgic for me. I’m a 80’s baby, so by the mid to late 90’s I was very opinionated about my clothes and indulged in a lot of questionable looks. Thankfully, this time around only the good is resurfacing. Think logo street wear, square neck camis, slip dresses and platform sneakers (I know this is debatable). I love the way this look is a fresh take on the 90’s casual vibe. The classic Logo shirt knotted as a crop top with flowing silk skirt and oversized jean jacket is perfection.
